This bill amends existing law regarding the display of flags by governmental entities in Alaska. It specifies that the flags of the United States and the State of Alaska must be displayed daily, weather permitting, on or near the main administration building of every state institution and in or near every schoolhouse during school days. Additionally, it mandates that any governmental entity displaying the flag of the United States must do so in a prominent position that is higher than any other flag displayed.

The bill also introduces new provisions that prohibit governmental entities from erecting or displaying flags that represent political viewpoints, while still allowing for individual expression of private speech. Furthermore, it grants active or retired members of the armed forces the authority to use reasonable force to prevent the desecration or removal of the United States flag, providing them immunity from civil or criminal liability for such actions. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
