The bill amends Alaska's existing law regarding the posting of warning signs for alcoholic beverages. It reduces the number of required warning signs from three to two for holders of various licenses and permits related to the sale and consumption of alcohol. The first sign will now read, "WARNING: Alcohol use during pregnancy can cause birth defects. Alcohol use can cause cancer, including breast and colon cancers," replacing the previous wording that included specific types of alcoholic beverages. The second sign will inform that an unaccompanied person under 21 years of age who enters the premises in violation of the law may be civilly liable for damages and outlines the potential penalties for providing alcohol to minors.

Additionally, the bill specifies that the signs must be at least 11 inches by 14 inches with lettering at least one-half inch high and in contrasting colors. The license or permit holder is required to display the first sign in a conspicuous manner for individuals purchasing or consuming alcohol, while the second sign must be prominently displayed at each entrance to the licensed premises. This legislative change aims to enhance public awareness regarding the risks associated with alcohol consumption and underage drinking.
