Analysis
   Background
   Alaska Statute 14.57.210 (Acquisition of title to undocumented property) outlines the process for a museum to follow to
   acquire legal title to undocumented property, such as objects, photographs, or ephemera, found within its collections.
   Alaska Statute 14.57.210(b) describes where (in a newspaper) and how long (four consecutive weeks) public notice of the
   undocumented property must be advertised. If the museum does not receive a valid claim for the undocumented
   property during the prescribed time (45 days after last publication), the museum then acquires title to the property.
   This bill proposes to amend Alaska Statute 14.57.210(b) to require public notice of undocumented property on an
   Internet webpage maintained by the museum and in a newspaper or on a social media account maintained by the
   museum.
   This bill also proposes to amend Alaska Statute 14.57.210(b)(1) to include an email address for the museum
   representative to contact for a claim of ownership and (4) to include the initial date of publication on the Internet
   webpage.
   There is no cost to the department as a result of the legislation.
