FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. LL 0017-1
2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
Amends AS 23.10.060(d) relating to exemptions from overtime pay requirements for certain staff at "ambulatory surgical
centers". The exemption currently applies to certain staff at Hospitals. Subsection (d)(12) is amended to add employees of
ambulatory surgical centers whose work includes the provision of medical services to the list of those that the sections
overtime payment requirements do not apply. The term ambulatory surgical center is also defined using the definition
found in AS 47.32.900.
The change would become effective immediately in accordance with AS 01.10.070(c).
This legislation does not require an update to existing regulations, and may slightly reduce overall work for the Wage and
Hour component through a reduction in review of overtime exemption requests. The department anticipates no fiscal
impact from this legislation.
