FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. HB 268
2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This bill seeks to amend AS 28.25.101(a) and provide military members or a spouse or dependent member of a military
member the flexibility to renew their Alaska drivers license. The statute currently only allows the renewal of a driver
license if the license is set to expire within one year.
The bill would allow a drivers license to be renewed for military members, spouse, or dependent if their license was set to
expire within two years and who is deployed, stationed, or under orders to be deployed abroad.
The bill does not materially impact the manner in which the agency would process renewals nor does the agency expect a
high volume of renewals under this bill's new provisions. Therefore the agency submits a zero fiscal note.
