A BILL
FOR AN ACT ENTITLED
1 "An Act relating to the costs of naming bridges and overpasses; and creating a fund to
2 be used for naming bridges and overpasses."
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:
4 * Section 1. AS 19.10.170 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
5 (d) A procurement for the repair or construction of a state bridge or overpass
6 must contain a provision requiring an offeror to estimate and include in its bid the
7 costs of naming the bridge or overpass.
8 * Sec. 2. AS 35.95 is amended by adding a new section to read:
9 Sec. 35.95.020. Bridge and overpass naming fund. (a) The bridge and
10 overpass naming fund is established in the general fund. The fund consists of
11 appropriations to the fund. Money appropriated to the fund may be expended without
12 further appropriation by the department for the purpose of paying costs related to
13 naming state bridges and overpasses. Money appropriated to the fund does not lapse.
14 Interest earned on money held in the fund may be appropriated to the fund by the

1 legislature.
2 (b) The legislature shall appropriate into the fund established in this section
3 the amount estimated under AS 19.10.170(d) for the costs of naming a bridge or
4 overpass.
