FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO. HB183
2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This bill changes the Alaska Criminal Justice Commission to the Alaska Criminal Justice Data Analysis Commission (the
Commission), with a sunset date of June 30, 2029. Other changes include: (1) a change to the membership of the
Commission; (2) changes to the purpose of the Commission to reflect updates around analysis, research, and
appropriation recommendations from the recidivism reduction fund; (3) recommendations for changing criminal sentence
practices and criminal justice practices; and (4) conforming changes to other statutes.
This bill will impact the Commissioner's Office and the Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) within the Department of
Health by adding the commissioner or designee as a voting member, adding DBH as a data and report contributor, and
amending language under the recidivism reduction program.
The Division of Behavioral Health does not anticipate a fiscal impact from this bill.
