Analysis
   Note: Amounts do not include inflation.
   HB 144 establishes a 15 member Alaska Military and Veterans Affairs Commission (Commission) in the Office of the
   Governor, with the Lieutenant Governor as chair.
   The fiscal note assumes:
   Personal Services
   Under Sec. 44.19.857(c), the Office of the Governor shall provide administrative support to the Commission. Because the
   Lt. Governor is designated as the Commission chair, one Commission staff, a full time Special Assistant, Range 22, based in
   Anchorage would be added to his office. Annual position cost would be $124.1, of which $78.5 is salary and $45.6 is
   benefits.
   Travel
   Under Sec. 44.19.860, the Commission shall meet at least quarterly. For the purposes of this fiscal note it is assumed two
   of these meetings will be face-to-face. The fiscal note further assumes an average 10 members and one staff will travel to
   attend each face to face meeting (assuming some members will be residents of the meeting place) at a cost of $1.0 per
   traveler. Total cost $22.0
   Contractual Services
   Contractual services costs will include meeting facilities and office space rental, state enterprise productivity rates
   (telephone, computer services, etc.), equipment rental, and recording services. Estimated annual cost: $25.0.
   Commodities
   Commodities costs include office and meeting supplies and office equipment for the special assistant: $8.0 total, of which
   $6.0 would be one-time costs.
