FISCAL NOTE ANALYSIS
STATE OF ALASKA BILL NO.
2021 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Analysis
This legislation streamlines the licensure and regulation of nurses by permitting Alaska to join 34 other states that
recognize a multistate license with uniform qualifications and practice expectations. This will reduce barriers to licensure,
enhance license mobility, and increase opportunities for nurses to practice in Alaska.
The Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing (CBPL) will require $43.4 to cover legal costs,
regulations, printing, and postage in the first year. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) will reimburse
the total cost of the regulations project and outreach through grant funding. The department requests statutory
designated program receipt (SDPR) authority in order to receive these funds.
Professional licensing programs within the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing are funded by
Receipt Supported Services (fund source 1156 Rcpt Svcs (DGF)). Licensing fees for each occupation are set per AS
08.01.065. The total amount of revenue collected approximately equals the occupations actual regulatory costs. The
division receives no UGF funding.
